A typical programme
Children will be given a placement test to see what they already know and to enable a programme of work
to be planned for them. Lessons are usually once a week for one hour.

Phonographix
We are trained to use Phonographix. Phono-graphix ™ is a system
of teaching reading and spelling, that addresses the concepts, skills and the information needed to be a successful reader
and speller. It begins with what the child already knows, the sounds of the language. Letters themselves do not make sounds,
they represent sounds. Research has shown that using this programme or similar ones, children make massive gains in
their reading ability.

Units of Sound
Units of Sound is a multi sensory package that aims to improve reading, writing and spelling skills. The
product comes on four CD-ROMs and focusses on teaching people with Dyslexia, but it has also been used in the teaching
of English for speakers of other languages. Units of Sound is based on a tried and tested format, and has been adapted from
a tape/book version to better suit the modern demands.
